CLMS / DESIGN & MANUFACTURE

Custom vacuum and dust extraction adapters

Connect your tool to the vacuum or extractor you already own. We design adapters and reducers around both fittings, the hose direction and a practical release. Send the models or photos of the fittings so we can establish the fit.

Describe the adapter for your setup

Describe the task and tell us the equipment model. No technical drawing is needed. Sending an enquiry is free and does not place an order.

A proper fit needs more than one diameter

Diameter is only part of the fit. Insertion depth, taper, retaining features and space around the tool matter too. A hose label may give a nominal size, so we check both actual connections.

The design establishes which part stays on the equipment and which connection releases. We account for tool movement, hose routing and extraction requirements. Material and manufacturing method follow the application assessment.

01 / THE NEED

Examples we can assess

  • A reducer between a tool outlet and an existing hose end.
  • An adapter connecting equipment from different brands.
  • A different connection angle where a straight fitting obstructs tool movement.
  • Replacing an unavailable connector after checking its mounting and application.

02 / THE FIT

Show us both sides of the connection

You do not need to know the connector standard. Photos and model names are enough to begin. Caliper measurements help us assess the fit; a photo with a ruler can help the initial discussion.

  • The make and model of the tool and the vacuum or extractor.
  • Photos of the tool outlet and hose fitting, separately and next to each other.
  • The inside and outside diameters of both components, if known.
  • Available insertion length and any thread, catch or groove.
  • The material or dust involved, how you work and what currently does not fit.

The tool and vacuum do not have to share a brand

Makita DBO180, Bosch, DeWalt, Festool or another tool: the connection is designed for the specified model and actual fittings. Show us both ends, including any adapter you have already tried.

We assess the fit, retention and the effect of any restriction on airflow. An ordinary printed part is not automatically antistatic. Where hazardous dust, conductivity or vacuum-class requirements apply, the whole system must still meet those requirements; making an adapter does not establish that compliance.

BUILDING THE RANGE WITH CUSTOMERS

A first design that could help other users too?

Selected first designs may qualify for our catalogue development programme. Participation and scope require prior agreement with CLMS. Submitting a request does not grant a free prototype — read the terms and describe your need.

Before you send a request

Is the hose diameter enough?

Not always. We need to know where and how the parts join, and whether the stated dimension is internal or external. Pictures of both connections help avoid mistakes.

Will an adapter increase suction?

We do not promise that. The aim is a suitable connection. Dust collection also depends on the equipment, hose, filters and the geometry of the complete airflow path.

What if I have already tried adapters that did not fit?

Include a photo of the most recent attempt and tell us what went wrong: looseness, excessive tightness, no retaining catch or the wrong angle. These details are more useful than the label “universal”.

Tell us the task. We will handle the design.

Send a description and a photo if you have one. You will receive the proposed solution, scope and price before work starts.
